Parsec Acceptance Speech 2010

Ladies and gentlemen, geeks, nerds, and enablers, and of course our listeners: THANK YOU!

Writing Excuses was named “Best Content Creation Podcast” by the Parsec Committee at the 2010 Parsec Awards at Dragon*Con. This is our second year in a row winning this particular award, and we’re both honored and humbled.

Not very much of that came out during this recording, in which we see why it’s probably a GOOD thing that we weren’t present to give an acceptance speech. Nevertheless, we’re very sorry to have missed the awards, and we have a plan for next year that does NOT include letting our respective publishers, agents, and handlers drag us off-site during something we really should be attending.

And speaking of attending… we will definitely be at WorldCon in Reno next August, and hope to also put in an appearance at Dragon*Con. By way of public service to our many Con-attending listeners, note that this Thursday, September 30th is the last day you can get your WorldCon membership for just $160. It goes up to $180 on October 1st.

  1. Well, let me be the first (among writing excuses commenters) to congratulate you on the award. Glad to hear you’ve kept up your title despite the competition. And it’s definitely a good thing you guys weren’t there to accept the award…again.

  2. Ha! I was talking to Peter on Saturday night at Dragon*Con and he asked me, “Hey, when are the Parsec Awards? Somebody should be there this year.”

The look on his face was priceless when he found out they were four hours ago, AND you had won!

    Congratulations guys, you deserve it.

PS: Careful there Dan. If you show up to Dragon*Con in a “smokin’ hot Wonder Woman costume” you’ll have a different kind of fan trying to take you out for lunch…

  3. My family and I are planning to go to Worldcon this year. (We saw you all at Dragons and Fairytales awhile back this year). How many boxes of Magic cards this time, Brandon? Dan & Howard: Would you like more cardstock to make pretty pit’chers if Brandon gets more wordy than usual this time? 😉

  4. Congratulations! You guys deserve it, too.

Of course, I’m going to have the thought of the three of you in Wonder Woman costumes in my head all day. “Smokin’ Hot” are not the first words that come to mind. 🙂
