They say it takes one person to ruin it for the rest of us and in this case it’s cheap pharmaceuticals to blame, we’ve been getting too much spam lately so I’m turning back on comment moderation.

If you’ve already got a comment on the site you should hopefully have your comments auto-published, I’m not sure how this works but it probably helps to have your e-mail and website in the form.

For the rest of you please bear with us. Even those of us WITHOUT real jobs (Brandon and Howard, represent!) are quite busy, which means that comment approval will probably come in bulk once or twice a day.

Ya I’m probably going to add CAPTCHA, I have to ask though since I know some of the WE team don’t care much for them.

I’ve been using Akismet on the Schlock Mercenary blog. Lots of the bots can get past Captcha.

It’s not perfect, but it’s worked pretty well on a blog a friend and I have - though, we probably don’t get the traffic you do.

there are other options too, as Howard mentioned, though.

We’ll all survive with moderated comments - I just hope you guys do as well. :)

I use both Askismet and Spam Karma 2 and the one-two punch has knocked out everything so far. Askismet is great, but adding spam karma cleaned up the rest that would go into moderation or in rare occasions make it through.

As this is my first comment post to this site, (most of the time I have just commented on Howard’s page) I will say I don’t care what you guys do as far as moderating or such as long as you keep up the great podcasts you have been doing.
